Berlin - An exiled Saudi prince, calling for a coup to depose the King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud. The coup is also aimed at preventing the current ruling structure led by his son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, destroying the Saudi Empire.
As reported by Press TV on Wednesday (23/05/2018), the call was delivered by Prince Khaled bin Farhan who has got political asylum in Germany. Prince Khaled delivered a coup call to other Saudi princes who were his uncles, such as Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz and Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz. The call was made in Middle East Eye news portal comments released Monday (21/5).
In his appeal, Prince Khaled asked Prince Ahmed and Prince Muqrin to use their influence among the royal members as well as the Saudi military to stage a coup against King Salman. According to Prince Khaled, changes are needed to save the Saudi Kingdom from 'irrational, unpredictable, and stupid' directions.
King Salman appointed his son Prince Mohammed bin Salman or MBS to become the crown prince of Arabia, in a surprise move in June 2017. The appointment ousted Prince Mohammed bin Nayef from the position of Saudi Crown Prince before.
Prince Khaled stated that the appointment of MBS drastically raises questions. "If King Salman is in good health, things will not reach this stage. When we look at public policy in Saudi Arabia, we can see that King Salman is completely no longer control the political stage in Saudi Arabia," he said
MBS who also served as the Saudi defense minister, is now regarded as the most influential figures in Saudi Arabia. Especially the impulsive approach to domestic and regional affairs has triggered 'riots' both inside and outside Arabia.
Last year, MBS ordered the arrest hundreds of Saudi princes and businessmen in an operation called 'anti-corruption campaign'. A total of US $ 100 billion was confiscated from those arrested, in exchange for their release. MBS is also the mastermind behind Saudi-led military operations in Yemen over the past three years, which have killed and left tens of thousands homeless.
Prince Khaled said the mass arrests had sparked many haters among other members of the Saudi royal family against SBM . "Families feel it as harassment," he said.
"There is a lot of anger inside the royal family," Prince Khaled said. Anger leads to potential power revolution in Arabia, Prince Khaled claim, he will be supported by '99 percent members of the royal family, the security services, and military would stand behind them '.
"I have received many emails from the police and military who supported me," he said
Prince Khaled's call came amid the mysterious disappearance of MBS from the public since the firefight and explosions outside Royal Palace in Riyadh last month. Some sources claim that the 21 April incident is actually a coup attempt by the Saudi royal family against King Salman.
