US President Donald Trump canceled a planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who was due to take place in Singapore on June 12, 2018.
The cancellation was submitted by President Trump through a letter dated May 24 addressed directly to Kim Jong-un. here is the letter:
In this letter, President Trump also wrote that America's nuclear capability is far more powerful than North Korea's nuclear and he prayed he would never use this nuclear weapon.
A few hours earlier, North Korean officials, Choe Son-hui, called the statement by US Vice President Mike Pence 'stupid and foolish'.
The comments came after Pence said North Korea could end up like Libya.
Choe, who has been involved in diplomatic contact with the US in the past 10 years, said North Korea 'will not beg for dialogue' and warned of a 'nuclear standoff if diplomacy fails'.
Pyongyang insisted that they would not disarm their nuclear weapons unilaterally.
President Trump said Tuesday that North Korea has to meet certain requirements for the summit to take place.
