Why Meditation Can Make You More Focus? Science Explain

In a report published in the journal Psychophysiology, researchers explain, meditation affects part of the brain works called koeruleus locus. That part of the brain controls our emotions, attention, and memory. That's all thanks to the hormones and neurotransmitters that are produced, namely noradrenaline.

"Noradrenaline is a multipurpose action system in the brain," said the lead author of the study Michael Melnychuk quoted from New Atlas, "When we are stressed, we produce too much noradrenaline and we cannot focus.

When we feel lethargic, we produce too little and more, we (also) cannot focus. There is a noradrenaline encounter where our emotions, thoughts, and memories are much clearer. "Meditation using the correct breathing technique makes the hormone balanced.

That's because the neurons in locus koeruleus are chemosensitive or responsive to CO2 levels that vary according to the different respiratory phases. The next hypothesis there is a relationship between performance attention and respiration that is modulated through the koeruleus locus.

  That is, the exchange of air between oxygen and carbon dioxide when breathing determines whether much or less the hormone in the body. "This study shows that when we take a deep breath, the activity of the koeruleus locus increases slightly. When we exhale it, the activity there is reduced, "said Melnychuk. "That means our attention is influenced by our breathing and it goes up and down with the respiration cycle," he continued.

In other words, breathing can optimize the focus level, so Melnychuk suggests setting up breathing through meditation to increase the power of concentration.
