Arrive in Singapore, Trump Ready for historic summit with Kim Jong-un

SINGAPORE - US President Donald Trump has arrived in Singapore on Sunday for a historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The meeting of the two heads of state that could be hostile is expected to lay the groundwork for ending the nuclear standoff between the two old enemies and the transformation of an isolated Asian nation.

Trump flies to Singapore's Paya Lebar Air Base with Air Force One, to reach an agreement that will lead to the denuclearization of one of the fiercest US enemies.

After descending the stairs from Air Force One, Trump was greeted by Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

Asked by the reporter how he felt about the summit, Trump said: "Very good" as quoted by Reuters. He then went into his limousine to get to his hotel in central Singapore.

The US president flew to Singapore from Canada, where he participated in a highly controversial G7 summit in which he sparked trade disputes with some of the closest US allies.

Hours earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has arrived in Singapore. Just like Trump, Jong-un's arrival was welcomed by Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

Trump and Jong-un are scheduled to meet on Tuesday (12/06/2018) at Sentosa, a resort island off the Singapore harbor with Universal Studios theme park and an artificial beach. Both will create a new history for both countries and the world.

Being an enemy since the 1950-53 Korean War, North Korean and US leaders have never met before - or even spoken on the phone.
