Powerful earthquake hits popular Indonesian tourist island 82 dead, Thousands Evacuated


An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter Scale (SR) resulted in 82 deaths in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Thousands of residents sought refuge from their homes.

Most of the victims died from being hit by building materials that collapsed during the earthquake.

The 7 SR earthquake happened on Sunday (5/8) at 18.46 WIB. The location of the earthquake was at point 8.37 LS and 116.48 BT. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 15 km and had a potential tsunami.
