An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale (SR) shook Donggala, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi). The BMKG issued a warning regarding the emergence of a potential tsunami wave.
Checked from BMKG's Twitter account, Friday (09/28/2018), the earthquake occurred at 17.02 WIB. The earthquake point is 0.18 LS and 119.85 BT with a depth of 10 kilometers.
Previously several earthquakes occurred with various forces. One of them was the 6.0 magnitude earthquake which caused damage and 1 death victim in Donggala.
"384 people died, this is only in Palu, not in Donggala," Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, Head of the Information Data and Public Relations Center for National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), told a news conference in Jakarta on Saturday (29/9).
Sutopo said that the victims were currently being handled by several Palu hospitals, such as Bhayangkara Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, and Wirabuana Hospital
At present the evacuation process is still carried out by BNPB and the Joint Sar Team. BNPB estimates the number of victims will continue to increase, Sutopo said.
"It is estimated that the number of victims will continue to increase because it is still in the process of evacuation. Not all victims found can be identified in the hospital," he continued.
Tens of hundreds of people are thought to have not been evacuated from the ruins of buildings that collapsed due to an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale that triggered the Tsunami in Central Sulawesi.
BNPB noted that most of the people who died were earthquake victims. The Roa-Roa Hotel in Palu also collapsed to the ground due to the 7.4 Richter scale earthquake.
Meanwhile, BNPB has not been able to ensure information about the damage and earthquake victims in Donggala because access is still difficult.
The agency previously reported that it found several victims dead at the site hit by the Tsunami in Palu.
"Some of the dead were found in the earthquake and hit by the tsunami," BNPB Head of Information and Public Relations Center, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, said through his personal Twitter account on Saturday (29/9).
The Indonesian National Police also mobilized 1,400 personnel to save the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi.
"We sent 1,400 personnel for the process of rescuing victims. We sent from the nearest location, namely one company from Gorontalo, one West Sulawesi company, and one South Sulawesi company," said Deputy Chief of Police, Ari Dono Sukmanto.
In addition, the police have also prepared logistical assistance in the form of tents from the National Police Health Center (Pusdokkes)
