WASHINGTON DC, - President Donald Trump will host Ramadan iftar at the White House this week to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. Politico reported the first fasting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (6/6/2018). Reported from CNN, the White House has not provided a list of invite names that will attend the iftar together. Last year, Trump did not hold a fasting banquet at the White House.

In fact, over the last two decades, this tradition has been done by Trump's predecessors such as President Clinton, George W Bush, and Barack Obama. In mid-May, Trump also released a statement congratulating welcoming Ramadan. "I extend my congratulations and best wishes to all Muslims who are waiting for Ramadan in the US and around the world," he wrote. In the US, there are about 3.45 million Muslims recorded in 2017. The tradition of Ramadan Iftar at the White House was held during the Clinton administration.

In 1996, First Lady Hillary Clinton led a banquet to break the fast together marking the end of Ramadan. Clinton said the tradition was built since her daughter, Chelsea, studied Islamic history a few years earlier.
