Wildfires in California's Yolo County residents ordered to evacuate


San Francisco - The California Authority issued weather warnings and mandatory evacuation orders after a series of wildfires spreading from strong winds and hot temperatures damaging thousands of hectares of land.

The latest fire, County Fire that occurred in Yolo County on Saturday, extends to an area of 22,000 acres without blackouts on Sunday afternoons, according to the California Fire Department.

More than 100 fire trucks and dozens of helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fires.

The fire spread to Napa County on Sunday afternoon.

Other active fires include the Pawnee Fire in Lake County, which has burned an area of 14,150 acres, but 73 percent was successfully put out on Sunday morning.

Waverly fires in San Joaquin County spread to an area of 12,300 acres and 75 percent were successfully quenched

Last year it became the deadliest fire in California.

A fire called Thomas Fire, in the Santa Barbara area in December, killed two people, destroying more than 1,000 buildings, including million-dollar homes, and setting fire to an area of about 259,000 acres. It was considered the third most devastating fire since 1932.

Fire in October in the area wineries in Napa and Sonoma valleys, just north of San Francisco, killing around 40 people, destroyed forests and bushes covering approximately 245,000 acres and destroyed more than 7,000 homes and buildings, reported by AFP.
