Elon Musk wants Tesla to be a private company

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is considering changing the company to private. He thinks about this thinking on his Twitter page.

"I am considering taking Tesla private  $ 420 (per share). Funding is guaranteed," he said.

His Tweet invited mass media and made Tesla's share value go up more than six percent. Reporting from Reuters, if he really will make a private Tesla with a stock value of  $ 420, then the transaction will be one of the biggest.

Currently, Tesla shares are circulating around 22.8 percent and make it one of the biggest go-private transactions with a price tag of around $ 72 billion.

Musk Tweet invited his followers on Twitter. One asks if Musk is serious, and Musk responds with:

"Yes ... This will save you a lot of headaches," in his tweet

Tesla shares jumped to  $ 362.74 in afternoon trade. The company has a market value of  $ 58 billion at the close of Monday. Musk has almost 20 percent of the company.

Musk has been under intense pressure this year to prove that he can fulfill his promise to turn his money-making company into a profitable high-volume producer, a goal that has sustained Tesla's shares and produced a higher market value than General Motors

"I believe Tesla regards Tweet as a public disclosure. I think he is serious," said analyst Chaim Siegel of Elazar Advisors.

In recent months, Musk has been in a heated debate with short sellers who believe that Tesla will ultimately fail, even going so far as to supposedly call an anonymous investment blogger’s boss to get them fired. As a public company, Tesla’s continued struggles to produce vehicles and make a profit have been watched closely, even as Musk continues to promise eventual turnarounds — like what happened with the Model 3.

Buying out the company and going private would allow Tesla to stay out of the public eye as it deals with these growing pains. At least, to the extent that Musk could ever allow himself or his company to fall out of the headlines.
