The Funeral for Pakistani Muslim exchange student shot dead in Santa Fe school attended by thousands


Sabika Sheikh was among the 10 victims killed in shooting terror at a school in Santa Fe, Texas, United States. Pakistani young girl was currently enrolling in a student exchange program in the US. Supposedly, the program ends next month and he will return to his homeland on June 9. But unfortunately, she was include dead victim at the worst school shooting incident in Texas

Sabika has joined the US student exchange program under a program facilitated by the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) since August 2017. The program is scheduled for completion next month.  Sabika registered as a student at Santa Fe High School, the location of the brutal shooting that killed 10 people.

Thousands of people attended the funeral of Sabika Sheikh, a Pakistani Muslim girl who was the victim of mass shootings at a high school in Texas, USA. The procession was held on Sunday (20/5) at local time.

Sabika funeral ceremony held at the Islamic Center in Stafford, Texas, which is located not far from Santa Fe High School. According to the statement of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston, launch AFP, the funeral will be held at local time.



Her body is to be returned to her family in Karachi, Pakistan.

Sabika's father, Abdul Aziz Sheikh, described his daughter as a hard-working and accomplished student who aspired to work in civil service.

'We are still in a state of denial. It is like a nightmare,' Sheikh's father, Abdul Aziz, told AFP at the family home in the southern Pakistani city.

He said he became aware of the shooting while watching TV and, after sending his daughter messages, only learned of her death after calling the exchange program.

The young woman, described by her family as an excellent student, had dreamed of working for Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Ministry.

She was due to return to Karachi in three weeks just in time for Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

The Islamic Society, in its statement, called the shooting 'an act of terror' and said such events 'remind us as to what world we live in, where sanctity of life is not valued.'

It said it had offered to help with the funeral and the transportation of Sheikh's body back to Pakistan.
